Touch, 2006

Commissioned by Ontario Science Center, Ontario, Canada

Touch is a whimsical and educational interactive installation. Fuzzy sensors are integrated into a humorous Giant Sensor Pom (14" x14"). This piece presents an ironic version of the POM POM as sculptural, decorative and functional object. Viewers touch one of three giant, grey sensor POM POMs to control lights inside a light box. When the lights are on, text and wiring is revealed, showing how the technology works.

Media: Hand-made conductive sensors, recycled carpet yarn, conductive tape, felt, acrylic, wood, incandescent light, lighting control circuitry. Three textile sensor areas. 48"w x 48"h.
